Sears Citation

is the name of the pretty little typewriter I picked up at an estate sale. Thank you to the man who left me this. It’s already brought me a couple fun hours away from the computer.

Chinese Stamp

My friend Sylvina just returned from her trip to China and brought back the most thoughtful gifts. This one’s so pretty I had to share it. I love the inkwell. The ink itself is dense and mud-like. That along with the hand carved name on the stick gives this set a primitive feel. Thanks Sylvs!

No Spec!

With the economy in a freefall, more companies are pinching pennies by asking designers to work “on spec” — in other words, to produce completed creative work with no guarantee of being paid.

Spec work devalues the communication design profession. It reduces communication design to a commodity, rather than to a specialized service.

In response to the trend of working on spec, designers have bonded together as an organization called No!Spec. A grassroots effort, No!Spec formed three years ago after companies began soliciting work through design contests at an alarming rate.

Pantone Mugs

Just got the Pantone 179C mug. I was psyched they had my favorite color. When I looked them up for this post I saw someone painted their stairs with pantone chips. Funny.

Baby Blanky

Knitted a baby blanket for my friend’s baby, June. I used a very soft organic cotton called Pakucho.

Wedding album project

Our wedding was a year ago. Took me 6 months to make the albums. I had no clue what I was getting myself into. I wasn’t psyched about the digitally printed albums and wanted a more traditional book with real photos. Ended up going with this 9.5×12.5 in, 100 page leather album. I now understand why photographers charge so much for this type of album. Calculating the number of pictures needed to fill the all pages, choosing which ones would be blown up, making sure you covered every part of the wedding. Holy shit. It took forever. So worth it though. The gorgeous pictures are thanks to the wonderful Steven and Carmen Lam.
